A tax-exempt diesel fuel used for agricultural, power generation, construction, locomotives, and marine. It is also referred to as “dyed diesel” and off-road diesel. Reformulated Gas vs. Conventional Gas
Reformulated Gasoline (RFG) is a “cleaner burning gas”. It has a different composition from conventional gas, and contains lower levels of air pollutants. It’s required by law in many cities, however most outlying areas supply conventional gas, as it is typically less expensive.
Ethanol Blends
This is an alcohol-based alternative fuel that’s blended with gasoline to produce a higher octane rating and lower emissions than non-blended gas. (Blends are often E-10 or E-20, that is, 10% ethanol or 20% ethanol.) Ethanol is made from domestically produced grains and or other plants by fermenting and distilling grains such as corn, barley and wheat. Visit www.ethanol.org to learn more.
