Propane Is Environmentally Responsible

Did you know propane is one of the best fuel sources homeowners can use to reduce their carbon footprint and go ‘green’? Propane is one of the best clean-burning fuels you can use. Propane is non-toxic, offers low carbon output (which contaminates the environment less), and approved as a clean alternative fuel.

It’s important to acknowledge that propane is established as a clean fuel according to the 1990 Clean Air Act. According to the Propane Council’s website, “Substituting propane for other fuels such as gasoline and fuel oil is an economical and viable step toward cleaner air. Using propane reduces the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and air pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.”.

Propane is a clean-burning fuel especially because of its lower carbon content. It dissipates quickly and does not pollute the air as much as other fuels and gases. When it spills or leaks, it renders itself a relatively harmless vapor and cannot contaminate the water or soil.

Propane is also naturally odorless – the reason why it smells is intentional. Propane manufacturers add in an additive that makes the propane smell (if you’ve smelt it before, it’s similar to rotten eggs) so that you are able to detect a leak if it happens and address it accordingly.
